BACKGROUND: Haku’s background really isn’t as interesting as it sounds, really, it’s not. He started life fairly simply in a lower-class family in a part of the world where it seemed to constantly snow, allowing for him to gain a love of the substance. However, during this time, what he hadn’t known was that his mother had been something of a mutant herself and in that little unknown and small town there was still a high bit of fear and prejudice of them. The way this fact was found out however was because of Haku’s moment of creating a little ball of ice, to which he was scolded for by his mother. What he didn’t know was that his father had witnessed the scene and with the fear of the rest of the village knew that he could not allow them to live, despite the fact they were his family.

A little later that day Haku witnessed the death of his mother and was moved into a corner of the house, shaking and crying in fear as his father moved in to kill him as well. Though he was saved by him instinctively impaling the house with ice spikes, killing his father as well as allowing for him to escape.

Though the times certainly weren’t on his side as for a good time he had to hunt in the streets, fighting dogs for food as well as places to rest with the snow still coming down. Some time later he was picked up by an unknown benefactor and led to an orphanage and became quite distant from most of the children in the place, figuring that he was cursed and not allowed to have contact as it would just lead to their dying or lead to him somehow cursing them in some shape or form. Once the orphanage people learned of his abilities he was sent to the school to learn how to control himself as well as to get him out of their hair.
PERSONALITY: Overall Haku is a fairly calm person, tending to keep to the back of crowds and not one to tend to want any real attention or to be the center of it. Amongst people he doesn’t know he tends to be very introverted, keeping mainly to himself or those he knows and trying to give off a calm personality of which wouldn’t prove an issue to anyone on any level at all. When with those he knows he’s a good bit more open, showing a more playful and child-like side, apt to laughing and playing around. It’s not hard to befriend him as he tends to like most people as long as they aren’t trying to hurt anyone who has done nothing or is close to him in one form or another. Amongst his special someone he takes on a more protective air, not wanting to be out of contact with him for extended periods of time unless absolutely necessary.

However, there is another side that isn’t shown frequently, a side that very rarely makes itself seen. This is whenever he dons something of a mask, generally becoming quite a stern and quiet creature and could very easily do things he normally would never do. Though, the main way this comes out if someone close to him is hurt, usually constituting in him getting into a fight and after the deed is done switching right back to his sweet disposition. Though it can be channeled at other times if it’s absolutely necessary.

As far as his work or classes clothing goes they are a brown long sleeve turtle neck with brown pants and a brown sash tied around him and a blue and white coat and his hair is tied up in a bun with two pieces hanging down.
POWERS: Oh, jeeze. Well, keeping with canon, Haku basically can manipulate and create ice when the environment allows him to. This can range to various different features of the ice, but usually it’s used only in protection situations.

When working Haku’s a far different person from his normal attitude, seeming cold and distant and focused on nothing but his work and what is set ahead of him. He’ll avoid killing someone if he can harm them just enough to keep them from getting up again to continue fighting but if they don’t back down he will kill them. Though death is always a last resort for him and would rather take a few hits himself than actually kill a person.

Abilities: The most prominent thing is that Haku is a ninja and for that reason possesses the ability to tap into his chakra and along with that and hand signs can perform various jutsus. As far as abilities goes Haku’s biggest strength is his speed, he uses speed in what manner he can to gain an upper hand compared to the other people amongst him. He’s also a precise shot with projectile weaponry, favoring senbon to larger weapons, showing that he’s more apt with smaller and lighter weaponry. He’s also very talented with ice-based techniques, most of his jutsus involving ice in some manner. This may be due to his kekkei genkai Hyouton which allows him to create crystal ice mirrors to enhance his jutsus. The mirrors are created by a combination of wind and water manipulation which is so compact to where fire barely makes a mark upon them and their purpose typically being a disguise technique and to provide him an easier time of using his other abilities involving it. Those abilities amongst them being him pulling water from the surrounding air to create a thousand sharp ice needles of which are sent to the enemy at high speeds. These needles he’s able to manipulate to either kill a target or make them unable to fight anymore. However, with the mirrors and the other techniques his chakra gets drained very quickly and while his speed his high in the mirrors he begins to slow when his chakra begins to fade.
MODIFICATIONS: No weapons, chakra and speed halved (he's still fast, so, uh), no ice needles.

Canon History: Haku grew up in a fairly normal home, though at the time kekkei genkai abilities were persecuted and feared, even so Haku’s mother managed to avoid the persecution and have a child. When Haku was a young child it was discovered, by his mother at the time, that he had the same bloodline trait that she did and for his discovery she made sure to scold him and tell him to not do that again. This didn’t last as it was found out that his mother possessed the kekkei genkai. A group of villagers, including Haku’s own father killed his mother and then went after him, though Haku managed to escape by killing the men with icicles.

From then on out Haku stayed in the streets as an orphan, having to fight for his meals against dogs and other animals. Despite his true nature he went against himself to survive even if it meant hurting innocent animals. Though one day when it started to flurry and he was sitting on a bridge a man came up to him, seeing his true potential (or perhaps having a sort of mercy for the child).

Haku almost instantly took to him, saying that he had eyes like his own and would gladly accept the invitation to follow him and to actually live. The man, Momochi Zabuza, would become the one thing that Haku would protect with his life.

One day when leaving a village, he and Zabuza, were stopped by a white haired boy and when asking if they were part of Kirigakure Zabuza quickly claimed they were not and the boy sped away. With a curious look in his eyes Haku quickly headed after Zabuza.

Throughout the years by doing various jobs and honing his skills Haku was on level with some of the most elite shinobi and by doing so could easily, one day, impersonate a hunter-nin. After taking a job from a man named Gato they were sent out to go kill a bridge builder named Tazuna, though at first only Zabuza went to encounter the guards that surrounded the bridge builder. Though his attempt was unsuccessful at first it allowed for them to think that he was dead. This due in part to the fact that Haku disguised himself as a Hunter-nin to supposedly "kill" Zabuza when in actuality he revived him from his fate.

A little later with Haku having to tend to Zabuza’s wounds he went out to find some herbs for faster recovery. During his trip, the dressed more feminine Haku, came across a sleeping Naruto and upon seeing his headband was tempted to kill the boy then and there. However his softer side won out and instead he woke the boy from his sleep. In his conversation with Naruto he revealed very little other than he was getting herbs to help a friend recover and that he had a precious person to him. When Haku decided to head back, however, he off-handedly decided to correct Naruto on his gender, making sure, to Naruto’s dismay, that he was actually male.

Fights: Please, PLEASE consult me before antagonizing Haku to the point of a serious fight. (IE: something where one is possible to try and kill the other, fist-fights and such are fine.)
